Since 2019, Khushi has been focusing on personal projects that explore the ever - changing nature of the self, how time influences matter and microscopic studies of the ‘body as art’. She has a keen interest in understanding the nature of existence and this remains a driving force in shaping her work. A chance encounter. A school girl in Sikkim. A roadside plant. Moments of reflection. Faint recognition. Of herself, in everything that she sees, and photograph. With time, comes meaning. Plants | People is a photographic study of similarities between plants and people. She made these portraits during her trip to Sikkim only to discover these similarities much later, once she was back at home. By allowing herself the freedom to perceive these photographs differently at a later point in time, she could draw connections between the form, expression and energy contained in each photograph, thus transforming an exercise in seeing to an act of perception. Her work is based onobservation, inquiry and then deriving meaning from what she has captured. Ultimately, the attempt is to understand our shared reality - the inter - connectedness of all beings.
